Seed Formation and Germination

  • Seed is a ripe and fertilized ovule that closes an embryo. It is a connecting link between the parents and progeny. Initially the propagation of seed occurs under favourable environmental conditions. Based on the seed there four different structures present: seed coat (protect envelope), the embryo, reserve food and minerals (for nourishment) and enzymes and hormones (for synthesis of new tissues during the germination).
