Seed Formation and Germination: Changes, Kinds & Mechanism

  • Seed germination is a process by which dominant embryo become active, grows out of the seed-coat and develops to seedlings. The embryo grows by absorbing water from outside, and stored food from cotyledons or endosperm. The seed which can withstand extremely low temperature and very low water content are called orthodox seeds (cereals, legume).
