- One of the earliest recognised schools of Indian philosophy is Sankhya. It is the creation of Sage Kapila. Sankhyasutras was the original name of his work. There are a total of 526 sutras in six chapters. Vijyanabhikshu wrote a masterful commentary on it called Sankhya-Pravacana-Bhashya. Asuri, a disciple of Kapila, and Panchashikha, his disciple, continued to support and propagate it.
