- Pratyaksa is the fundamental source of knowledge and anumana the most important instrument of knowledge.
- Almost all schools of Indian tradition accept anumana as a source of valid cognition but Carvakas denies it to be as a pramana.
- With historical references, anumana cannot be considered as a pramana according to Carvaka, because Vyapti cannot be established, the karana cannot be known through any means and thus, future predictions are considered as unjustifiable.
