Linguistic Turn

Rationalists considered reason as the primary source of knowledge whereas empiricists considered sense observation as the primary source of knowledge. However, it was for Kant who identified the contributions of both reason and observation as sources of knowledge. Right after Kant the philosophers were concerned about the processes required for obtaining knowledge which then took a “linguistic turn. ” The turn expresses the role played by language in acquiring knowledge.
