Gnetales
The ‘Gnetales’ consists of a small group of gymnosperms and said to be advance or most evolved gymnosperm which have recent in origin. The Gnetales seem to form a connecting link between gymnosperms and angiosperms. The two genera, Ephedra and Gnetum, occur both in the Eastern as well as in the Western Himalayas, but Welwitschia (Welwitschia mirabilis) is confined only to the Namib Desert area of South-West Africa.
